Reviving Cambodian Threads

The Cambodian tradition of weaving silk dates back to Angkor times. The art of silk weaving is being  revived in the Silk Studio using wooden looms and hand spinning to create beautiful fine, high quality fabrics.  All fabrics are woven in the natural silk colour for artists to apply their own design and/or colour processes.

We've been supporting these amazing women and children

for 14years now. They are family to us.

We love our Cambodian family and are very proud of their

achievements and continuing successes.

Ask us how you can help these amazing people to become

self sustaining and prosperous through their arts based business..

Reviving Cambodian Threads

The Cambodian tradition of weaving silk dates back to Angkor times. The Silk Studio produces beautiful hand woven 1 ply, 2 ply and organza silk that can be purchased from Pollard Designs. All profit goes directly to the Silk Studio so that the women can run their own business and determine their own futures. Very importantly this enables them to keep their children rather than placing them in an orphanage.

This support provides families with a means to an income along with providing an avenue for young women not to become involved in the sex trade in Cambodia.

They became completely independent of our financial support after around 7 years but they need our help again due to the impact of covid and a tragic fire in 2021. Read more below.

A new meaning to
'Reviving Cambodian Threads'

The term we use of 'Reviving Cambodian Threads' has taken on a new meaning with recent events since fire destroyed the project.

Unfortunately in December 2021 our beloved Cambodian family suffered a tragic fire where all of their belongings were completely destroyed apart from one of the 10 looms.

They lived and worked at the studio so they literally had nothing but the clothing they were wearing.

They had already lost many of their clients due to covid     and this was another blow!

In true Cambodian fashion they were resourceful and set     to rebuilding their silk weaving to regain their financial independence. we're not quite there yet but slowly and  surely we grow.
